Brothers charged over Mill Park shopping centre brawl

Two brothers allegedly involved in a daylight brawl at a shopping centre have handed themselves in to police.

Daniel Pegoraro, a patched member of the Red Devils and affiliate of the Hells Angels Nomads Thomastown chapter, appeared in Heidelberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with affray and behaving in a riotous manner.

It is alleged the 28-year-old was one of five men involved in the fight at the Groove Train cafe at a Mill Park shopping centre on Sunday. Chairs and bottles were thrown in the attack on two men.

His brother Benjamin Pegoraro, 23, has also been charged with affray and riotous behaviour, as well as possessing a dangerous article.

A 35-year-old Lalor man, who sustained minor facial injuries, has spoken with police.

Detective Matthew McKenzie said on Monday that the incidient had left onlookers fearing for their safety.

“The people that were present and spoke to police did explain that they were fearful and extremely surprised by what had taken place given that it was such a public place and the middle of the day,” Detective McKenzie said.

He said children and elderly people were present.

“We believe there was some talk between the two parties and that has resulted in the fight taking place,” he said.

Both brothers have been released on bail to face court again at a later date.
