VSDCA: Melton blow as Mick Allen breaks leg

Melton Cricket Club’s Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association season plans have been dealt a major setback after a serious injury to first XI captain Mick Allen.

He broke his leg with about 10 minutes to go in Riddell Bombers’ RDFL grand final win against Diggers Rest last Sunday week.

In addition to captaining Melton to three straight VSCDA premierships and a Twenty20 title,

Allen is the reigning RM Hatch medallist after scoring 957 runs at an average of 73.62 last season.

Melton starts the VSDCA east-west first XI season under new coach Nathan Geisler at Yarraville Oval on Saturday, October 5.
