A MULTI-MILLION dollar indoor aquatic facility will be built at Bacchus Marsh after funding for the centre was announced.
Ballarat MP Catherine King announced $7 million for the Bacchus Marsh Indoor Aquatic Centre, including provisions for a 25-metre indoor pool.
The facility would include an eight-lane pool, a learn-to-swim pool, entry and kiosk, administration facilities and change rooms.
Ms King said this project would bring great benefits to a community, that she said sorely needed an indoor pool.
“The existing outdoor pool is almost 80 years old and only available a few months each year,” she said.
“(The new facility) will deliver a much-needed indoor pool 12 months a year.”
Ms King said the funding for the pool had already been factored into the federal budget.
“This project is a great example of a community working together,” she said.
“The local council, Rotary Bacchus Marsh, health agencies, police, business people, schools, sporting groups, aged care, and community groups have combined to achieve this great community outcome.”
Ms King said families would benefit from expanded recreation options offered at the new facility.
