FRIENDS of the Melton Botanic Garden members
are celebrating after winning a Keep Australia Beautiful award.
The group, with 200 members, last week received a leadership award for its ‘Growing Plants, Growing People’ project.
The Friends formed in 2003 to enhance the appearance of Ryans Creek through a low-rainfall botanic garden.
Melton Environment Group also took out an award for environment protection. Members have worked on the Arnolds Creek bio-link since 2008, protecting and enhancing the native vegetation and woodlands that are home to many bird species.
