PREMIER Denis Napthine made an appearance at last Wednesday’s Moorabool council meeting, albeit in cardboard cut-out form.
With a life-size cutout tucked under her arm, Cr Tonia Dudzik said it had been 100 days since Mr Napthine had been made Premier, and 100 days since the council promised to work with state and federal governments to provide safer access to the Western Highway.
At a meeting on March 6, council accepted an amended traffic plan calling for immediate works on Halletts Way off-ramps and a safer eastern interchange.
“But nothing has since been done,” Cr Dudzik said.
She urged Mr Napthine to visit Bacchus Marsh or, “at the very least, come through with the promised $4 million from the state government”.
The rest of the $11 million project will be funded by the federal government, provided works begin this year.
Cr Dudzik, who borrowed the ‘‘paper premier’’ from Western Metropolitan Greens MP Colleen Hartland, emphasised the need for action.
“Halletts Way was not a controversial plan – it should just be done,” she said.
“We risk ending up with nothing.”
