Safe seat is in your hands

MELTON families are being urged to ensure their child restraints are properly fitted as part of Operation Safe Family.

Inspector Stephen Mutton (pictured, right, with Alyssa and Noah and Sergeant Kevin Dans) says residents can have child seats fitted or checked for free by an accredited professional at Woodgrove shopping centre this Saturday from 10am-2pm.

One-way number plate screws will also be fitted to cars in a bid to reduce thefts.

“Criminals typically use the plates to steal petrol, evade freeway tolls and avoid road safety cameras,” Inspector Mutton said.

“The community can help police by replacing the standard number plate screws with the one-way security screws. These act as a deterrent to thieves.”
