A ROWING machine, electric bike and resistance weights will be added to a new gym at Ballan hospital thanks to a donation of almost $5000 from the town’s football club.
Ballan District Health and Care last month received a $3.3 million Commonwealth grant for the construction of a double-storey building including a hydrotherapy pool and gym.
Ballan Football Club players have chipped in with money to buy equipment after winning first prize at the club’s recent trivia night.
Ballan District Health and Care spokeswoman Triss O’Keefe says the centre will be open to the public and will provide cardio, strength training and rehabilitation. “There’s no age limit, no fitness barrier. We’ll even be open weekends and before and after work hours to give everyone a chance.”
Construction is expected to finish within 12 months.
