Long journey touches down in Ballan

Melton Civic Centre was first port of call for former AFL star Michael Long’s Journey to       Recognition, which set off from Federation Square on Sunday. About 100 people yesterday shared a breakfast featuring guest speakers and musical performances.

The walkers, who want Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people recognised in Australia’s constitution,  included Recognise campaign director Tim Gartrell and Melton councillor Sophie Ramsey (pictured).

The walkers continued to Bacchus Marsh and will arrive at the Ballan Council offices at 3.30pm today for a traditional smoking ceremony, performances and community barbecue.
