Jason Moody’s four goals kept Melton clear on top of FFV state league 5 west on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Altona North at MacPherson Park. Jordan Borg and Chris Briggs were the other scorers as Melton improved to 16 points, from Laverton Park second on 15. Melton is away at Sebastopol Vikings (third, 14 points) this Saturday. Melton’s women lost 3-2 to Keilor Wolves in state league 3 west.

Basketball

Melton’s winning streak extended to five games in Big V men’s division 2 with a blow-out 23-point victory over Maccabi Warriors on Sunday. The Breds never looked back after winning the first quarter 25-15 and went on to win 83-60. Maverick Clissold scored 19 points for Melton, while Cameron McCallum scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Thoroughbreds (5-4) are up to fourth in the division, one win off second place. In Youth League 2 men, Melton (8-2) remains top of the league in spite of a 70-74 loss to Warrandyte Venom.

Women’s footy

Pascoe Vale piled on the pain for Melton Centrals on Sunday with an 86-point win in VWFL north west division 2. The Panthers won 15.16 (106) to Centrals 3.1 (19) at MacPherson Park. The AFL held its inaugural women’s draft last week. There’s a full report on our website, meltonweekly.com.au
