Pizza driver ambushed

A pizza delivery driver was ambushed by three men in Melton South last week. Upon arriving at Toogoolawah Drive, the victim was confronted by the offenders who had been hiding in an unoccupied block next door. The men left the scene with money and pizzas. They were wearing hoodies and had a silver handgun. Information to Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.

Thieves target building sites

Burglaries have been reported at three Melton house construction sites in Riviera Drive, Hillside. Thieves stole a toilet, basin and kitchen cabinets. Police said the burglaries occurred in the early hours of May 4 and 5.

Hiatus for library patrons

Melton library’s temporary base at the Victoria University campus in Melton South will close on May 20. The library has operated from its temporary site since September 2011 to allow construction of the new Melton Library and Learning Hub. No library service will be available in Melton for the following two weeks.

Welcome mat is out

Moorabool Council connected with hundreds of potential tourists at the Regional Victoria Living Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 19-21. About 900 people received showbags containing information on the area.

Sip, slurp for cancer cause

Diggers Rest residents have been invited to a Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for people with cancer. First-time organiser Teresa Kennedy hopes to raise $500. Although no one in her family had been affected by cancer, she said the cause was something she cared deeply about. The morning tea will be at the Diggers Rest family services centre 9am-noon on May 20.
