THE rollout of the National Broadband Network into Bacchus Marsh and Ballan is making Moorabool more appealing for business and tree-changers, says a local expert.
With Ballan and Myrniong poised to receive the NBN within the next three years and most of Bacchus Marsh connected by early 2015, Patrick Benello, digital hub trainer at community college The Laurels, says high-speed broadband is making Moorabool a more attractive place to live and invest.
“It makes it a more ‘investable’ area for businesses, and it also makes it appealing for those who want to make a treechange,” Mr Benello said. “It’s a big decider [in choosing where to live], it can become a battle of the haves and the have-nots.
“I know a few people who have told me they’ve moved to Bacchus Marsh because of the rollout.” NBN works began in Bacchus Marsh in November 2011 and in Melton in June 2012.
