State budget: Little for Melton, Moorabool

DESPITE $6.1 billion for major projects in the 2013-14 budget, little funding has been set aside for Melton and Moorabool, budget documents reveal.

Requests of a new hospital, road duplications and upgrades to the Melton railway station have all gone unheard.

Before the budget’s release, $11.5 million was announced for the construction of a primary school in Melton West.

Ballan Hospital will receive $2 million for a redevelopment and Bacchus Marsh will share in $25 million for enhanced bus services.

A total of $1.6 million will go towards an additional 68 train services each week to and from Wendouree train station.

The first home owner grant for newly constructed homes will increase to $10,000 from July 1.
