Step by step in solidarity

An awareness walk has helped raise $10,000 to benefit men with depression. Staff, families and friends of Woolworths in Melton put their walking shoes on for a four-kilometre circuit of the Maribyrnong River last week. They were joined by representatives from 15 other stores who have partnered with beyondblue, the national depression initiative.

Day to honour selfless brigade

Melton Council will mark National Volunteer Week (May 13-19) with a special May 15 event. About 140 volunteers have been invited to hear speaker Walter Mikac, who lost his wife and two daughters in the 1996 Port Arthur massacre.
