Thieves hit where it hurts

More than $5000 stock and equipment was stolen when thieves broke into the Diggers Rest Junior Football Club rooms last Tuesday. Club spokeswoman Michelle Ryan said thieves chiselled a lock off a door before forcing their way in. Canteen stock, cooking equipment, first-aid kits and game day equipment, including stretchers, were among the items taken, upsetting members like Robert (pictured). A damaged floor will cost $3000 to replace. “We’re a small club who struggle for numbers but work hard to raise funds to keep the costs of playing down for our members families,” Ryan said.
