Car park crash man dies

A Bacchus Marsh man, 83, has died in hospital from injuries received when his car crashed on April 14. Police said the man was parking his car in a supermarket car park in McKenzie Street, Melton, just after 6pm. It is believed instead of braking, he accelerated and hit another car before crashing into a brick wall. The man’s wife, who was also in the car, was not injured. The man was taken to the Western Hospital, where he died last Wednesday. The death takes the state’s road toll to 76.

Senior Sergeant McCormick said police took instances of assaulting fellow officers seriously. The police officer received only minor injuries. The man was charged and will appear in court.
