The expert team for your health

The team at Expert Health in Melton and Bacchus Marsh, headed by directors Jay Chidananda and Nish Kashyap, is set to launch allied health services including podiatry, naturopathy, dietetics and acupuncture.

Nish was part of the team for four years when the clinic was known as Vigor Sports Medicine. Now he’s co-director of the practice which has operated under its new name since December.

“We are extending the practice but have retained all existing services,” Nish says.

“We’re aiming to provide a wider range of options for people needing help with injuries and specific exercises to correct dysfunction.”

Extra services include specialised aged care physiotherapy, home visits for post-operative patients, and neurological rehabilitation and personalised programs for conditions such as stroke and head/spinal cord injuries.

Next month, the Bacchus Marsh clinic will introduce Aqua Mum, a 45-minute water class for expectant mothers conducted by a physiotherapist. These are designed to increase pelvic floor strength and endurance, reduce chances of incontinence during and post pregnancy, and ease labour pain.

“And our water aerobics has been a big hit with the elderly who are enjoying increased mobility, endurance and balance,” says Jay.

Four post-graduate sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapists make up the Expert Health team, each taking a hands-on approach, assessing, diagnosing and formulating a tailored plan to correct specific problems for clients.

“We not only concentrate on quick pain relief. Once the acute stage of injury is settled, a thorough assessment is done to identify all factors contributing to the injury,” says Jay.

“This is followed by a holistic approach with a range of treatment techniques used to achieve lasting results.”

Along with traditional physiotherapy, the clinic employs therapies such as remedial massage, dry needling, acupuncture, Pilates, gym-based exercise rehab and orthotic supports.
