Bike thefts threaten Moorabool program

BACCHUS Marsh police are appealing for information after burglars stole bicycle equipment from Moorabool council offices over the weekend.

Senior Constable James Ross said a trailer containing eight bicycles, helmets and other equipment was pinched between 9.45am and 10am on Sunday.

The trailer is part of a Victoria Police bicycle education program in Moorabool and Hepburn primary schools for children with a disability.

Senior Constable Ross said he feared the program would end due to the theft.

“The community has worked so hard for this program and it’s incredibly disappointing that this has happened.

“We’re appealing for anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of the trailer to contact police so that our local children continue to have this opportunity.”

Investigators have released an image of the trailer.

Anyone with any information about the theft is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
