Re: Melton bike spending on track

Re: Melton bike spending on track (Weekly, November 22):

I just have to get something off my chest about the poor excuse for bike paths in our new city. We like to brag about just how great it is to be here, yet when the carpet is lifted you can see just what has been swept under it for years. Yes, of course, Melton does have “some” great paths, but council seems to want people to believe this is the norm. There are very few riders using the paths today, simply because it really is unsafe to share so many of them with traffic. Build safe paths — not by painting a line on the road — and then see the cyclists emerge to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

Re: Rail delays force job rethink (Moorabool Weekly, November 29):

I live in Rockbank and work in Carlton and have been catching the train for eight years. I have to say the trains run to timetable most of the time. I’m happy for these track works to happen as I would rather travel safely on a V/Line train than drive to work with the percentage of road accidents being higher. Stacey Harris (via web)
