Police find body in Point Cook house

POLICE investigating the disappearance of Bacchus Marsh resident Sarah Cafferkey have discovered the body of a woman in a Point Cook house.

Detectives made the discovery early on Sunday while executing a warrant at a house in Fongeo Drive. Police are yet to identify the remains, with investigations ongoing.

Ms Cafferkey, 22, was last seen by her family on November 9. Homicide detectives took over the investigation last week.

Friends of Ms Cafferkey said on Facebook that a male friend had posted threatening messages to her in the days before she disappeared. The messages have been shown to police.

Detective Sergeant Mark Hatt would not comment on whether the remains were Ms Cafferkey’s, saying only the body was still to be formally identified.

He would not say if a suspect had been identified.

Ms Cafferkey’s 2001 Astra sedan was found in Owen Street, Maribyrnong, on Thursday night.
