Thoroughbreds with winning start

Melton Thoroughbreds made a winning debut in the Big V women’s youth league division 2 competition.

After developing a number of young players at the club in recent years, the Thoroughbreds decided to enter a women’s youth league side last year.

The team didn’t get to take to the court last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They regrouped and excitedly took to the court for their first official match last week.

Under the coaching of Adrian Adams, who has been part of the Thoroughbreds program for a number of years, the Thoroughbreds started with a 67- 38 point win against Chelsea away.

The Thoroughbreds will get to play in front of their home crowd for the first time this weekend.

They face Albury/Wodonga on Saturday night at the Melton Recreation Centre from 6pm.

The Thoroughbreds’ men’s side play at 8pm in a double header.
