The Riddell District Netball League has announced its side for Saturday’s WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships clash with the Central Highlands Netball League.
The team of 10 includes several players who have previously represented the league, along with a few players who will represent the RDNL for the first time.
Macedon coach Ciara Stewart, who was named coach of the year, will lead the side for a second straight year.
Several members of last year’s RDNL team of the year have been named in the side.
Melton Centrals’ Rebecca Morabito, who shared the Ryan Medal with Amy Carroll, will lead the attack end.
She’s joined by Macedon goaler Chloe Wilson and Rockbank shooter Rebecca Hicks.
It’s a second straight year Wilson has been named in the side, while Hicks is making her debut in her first season in the competition.
The midcourt will have a real Macedon feel, with three Cats players named.
Caitlyn Alifraco, Chelsea Kemp and Karlee DeBono have all been named to represent the league for the first time.
Diggers Rest’s Anica Scherer will give the side flexibility, with the ability to play both in defence and in the midcourt.
Scherer was part of last year’s team.
The side will have an experienced defensive line up.
Katie Clarke, who captained the side last season, has been selected again, along with her Cats teammate Janelle Birch.
After not playing in the league last season, Riddell playing coach Lauren Close is back representing the league.
It’ll be the third time Close has represented the league.
