The Riddell District Football League’s WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships squad has been reduced to 26 ahead of the league’s clash with the Central Highlands Football League on Saturday.

Having originally named a 52-man squad, the league has whittled that down to 26 with the final team to be selected on Thursday night after a final training session.

Rupertswood has the most players in the final man squad, with eight players named.

Last year’s co-captain Brett Chambers leads those named from the Sharks, with Brent Swallow, Damon Cerini, Cameron McRorie, Todd and Dylan Podolczak, Sean Hetherington and John Barnard also in the squad.

Ruckman Tom Waters is the only player named from reigning premiers Macedon, while Diggers Rest duo Andrew Tyquin and Mathew Medcraft have been selected.

Wallan’s good form has been rewarded with Jesse Davies, Ricky Schraven, Shaun Stewart, Michael Mannix and Corey Grindley named in the squad.

Alistair Rae has been named along with Woodend-Hesket teammates Daniel and Ben Toman.

Ayden Tessari is the only Romsey representative, while Riddell’s Liam Reid adds another ruck option for the team.  Reid’s Bombers teammate Tim Walsh is also in the squad.

Sunbury Kangaroos’ Tierone Cuffe and Mitch Streiff, Rockbank’s Ricky Cameron and Broadford’s Michael Gillard round out the squad.
