Eynesbury and St Anthonys were among the few teams to take to the field on Saturday, but rain cut short their matches in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association B-grade.
Unlike most other competitions, the GDCA did not call off its matches before the weekend.
However wet conditions on Saturday meant most games didn’t go ahead.
Eynesbury and Wallan faced off in Melton South, with both sides keen to return to the winners’ list.
Wallan was in the box seat, having made 375 on day one.
The Eagles’ chase didn’t start well, with Reece Andrew out for a duck and skipper Hayden Castle made just 14. At 4-66 things didn’t look good for the Eagles.
Playing coach Luke Castle and Liam Norris set about rescuing the innings and took the score past 100. Norris fell for nine not much later and Castle was run out for 50 when the score was 118.
The Eagles pushed to 6-166 at tea but that would be the end of play as the rain set in.
St Anthonys was well on its way to defeating Kyneton when rain washed out play at Kyneton. The Saints had Kyneton at 5-68, in reply to 366.
Bacchus Marsh’s second side also took to the pitch in B-grade. The Bulls looked in control of their run chase against Gisborne before the game was called off.
The Bulls were 2-82 in reply to 180, when an early tea was called due to rain. Players didn’t return to the field.
In the McIntyre Cup, Romsey had a strong win against Sunbury United in the only game to be completed. No play was possible in the other four matches which all ended in draws.
