It was a tough day for the North Western Titans in Baseball Victoria Summer League.
In a rare triple header for the club’s three senior sides, the club was hoping to get a few wins on the board in front of their home crowd.
The three sides, the women’s, reserves and seniors, put in mixed performances, but all ended in the same result, a loss.
The Titans women started off the day facing ladder leaders Sunshine Eagles.
Basic errors would come back to hurt the Titans as they lost 18-4.
Titans president Danny Haymes said the side had an ‘off day’.
“That’s the easiest way to put it,” he said. “We made too many errors. We out-hit them, but we made crucial errors in the dig and we couldn’t come back from that.”
The loss is the Titans second in a row and not the form they want to be taking into their first finals series.
Haymes said the two losses had given the side an idea what they need to be prepared for once it comes to finals.
They play their final regular season game this week. They currently sit third.
“They need to get themselves ready for finals,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to getting back on the training track and ironing out some little errors.”
The reserves were next to hit the pitch, with the side having a 7-2 loss.

Haymes said it was a good performance from the side.
In division 3, the match ended in disappointment for the Titans after a late rally fell short against Chelsea Dolphins.
The Titans fell short 15-10 against a side that needed to win to keep their finals hopes alive.
Haymes said there were some good signs, but they couldn’t get the job done in the end.
He said the difference was allowing too many Dolphins batters’ walks.
“We had to finish the game after the eighth innings due to bad light,” he said.
“We thought we might have been able to beat them.
“After the seventh innings we brought it back to 10-10. We always thought that we would be able to catch them.
“We were happy with the performance and how we fought back.”
The Titans, who will finish bottom, end their season this weekend against Ormond GH Blue.
Haymes said it had been a disappointing season after setting out to play finals.
“We played better than the results showed,” he said.
“We let a lot of games slip. About three or four games we lost in the last two innings.
“It’s a learning curve and we’ve taken a step in the right direction.”
