It was another big weekend for Bacchus Marsh young Sam Lalor at the weekend with his maiden first XI century in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association McIntyre Cup.
The 15-year-old helped to defeat Sunbury Kangaroos with 11 sixes and four boundaries before falling for 105 from 63 balls.
Kangaroos batted first making 6-164 off their 45 overs.
Thomas Wardell was the best of the bowlers taking two wickets.
The Bulls started well with Lalor hitting them all around the park. He made the majority of the runs early, making 105 of the Bulls 140 runs.
The Bulls went on to win, finishing 3-166.
Bacchus Marsh sits second on the ladder.
This caps off a few big weeks for Lalor who was elected to play representative cricket at the Bendigo Summer Series.
Lalor was picked to play for the bottom age team along with his cousin, Archie Lalor, at the three-day series which started on January 10 in Bendigo.
The best players from across the state were selected to play the series, making it a significant event for the cousins.
βIt meant a lot [to be picked],β Sam said.
βI missed out in under-12s and I think that really drove me to work harder.β
Meanwhile in other McIntyre Cup matches, Diggers Rest Bulla were defeated by Sunbury United on Saturday.
United batted first making 8-233 off their 45 overs.
Jacob Grant and Nic Diss took three wickets apiece for the Burras.
Most of the Diggers Rest batsmen failed to fire with only three making double figures.
They fell well short with just 132 runs on the board.
Nalaka De Silva top scored with 42.
The Burras sit ninth on the ladder.
In the Johnstone Shield, Eynesbury defeated Riddell and Bacchus Marsh beat Aintree.
In the Jensen Shield, St Anthonys won against Bacchus Marsh.
