Caroline Springs has welcomed back Barry Priest Medallist Stephen Brewer for this year’s Western Region Football League division 1 season.

The Lakers have announced a number of new signings in recent days, headlined by Brewer.

Brewer, who won the Priest Medal in 2021, left the Lakers last season to play closer to home.

The club on Facebook said it was thrilled to welcome him back to the club.

“Brewer will add some class to our senior team and as always, will set high standards on the training track for our young squad to aspire to,” the post said.

“Everyone knows what Brew will bring to the club, and we are all looking forward to seeing him back in Laker colours in 23.”

Joining Brewer at Caroline Springs this season is Geelong Victorian Football League-listed Billy Crofts, who has joined the club.

Crofts had been playing locally with Melton.

“Billy is a hard-running midfielder with exquisite skills that can break the lines on a consistent basis,” the Lakers said on social media.

Tim Speirs joins the Lakers from North Ballarat in the Ballarat Football League.

Speirs is a multiple best and fairest winner at South Colac before moving across to the Ballarat Roosters in the VFL in 2018.

He played with North Ballarat’s local team from 2019 to 2022.

The other new signing announced in recent days was Tyson Hartwig.

Hartwig, who is a defender, joins the club from Wangaratta.

The trio join the Lakers who will be coached by Brian Lake this season.
