Greenvale stomped by Aberfeldie

Greenvale proved no match for Aberfeldie in Essendon District Football League premier division match on Saturday, with the Gorillas running away with the game in the second half.

One of the biggest matches of the season took on extra significance with the two sides fighting for finals spots.

After an even first half, the Gorillas took it to another level after half-time, kicking eight goals to three on their way to a 14.9 (93)-7.7 (49) win.

For the Jets, Kurtis Sanajko and Jon Kent kicked two goals apiece, with Josh Smith and Aaron Mansfield named their best.

The Jets have slipped to fourth, four points behind ladder leader Keilor.

The gap between the Jets and the fifth-placed Aberfeldie is two points.

In division 1, Tullamarine has moved to the top of the table with victory against East Keilor.

The Demons led by two points at the main break, before piling on 11 goals in the second half for an 18.10 (118)-10.11 (71) win.

Brad Allen and Ryan Pretty kicked three goals each for the Demons, with Dean Bartrop and Mark Maric named the side’s best.

The Demons sit two points clear Airport West after the Eagles lost to Hillside.

Craigieburn remains in third place after defeating Oak Park. It took until the final quarter for the Eagles to take control of the match. They won 13.14 (92)-9.11 (65).

Glenn Robertson kicked three goals for the Eagles, with Ryan Bongetti and Brock Chircop named the side’s best.

The Eagles remain two points clear of fifth-placed Hillside.

Jacana suffered a 19.13 (127)-13.8 (86) loss to Taylors Lakes.

In division 2, Roxburgh Park had a bye.
