Bull paceman’s 6-10 sets up winning show

Bacchus Marsh has a chance at an unlikely Gisborne District Cricket McIntyre Cup win thanks to pace bowler James Bailey.

After winning the toss against Gisborne, the Bulls made a positive start and appeared to be on their way to a big total.

At 1-40, with Tim Hughes and Dennis O’Loughlin apparently set, Gisborne introduced Jay King to the bowling attack.

It was a game-changing move as King turned the game with figures of 5-13.

The barrage of wickets led to the Bulls being dismissed in the 50th over for just 85.

With plenty of time left, Gisborne took to the middle in search of quick runs.

But the ball continued to dominate, with Bailey stepping up for the Bulls.

The opening bowler claimed 6-10 to put his side right back in the match.

When play resumes this week, Gisborne will need 36 runs to win with four wickets remaining.

Elsewhere in McIntyre Cup, Diggers Rest Bulla is locked in a tight battle against Sunbury.

Diggers Rest was bowled out for 173 and in reply, Sunbury is 0-22, requiring 152 for victory when play resumes this week.
