Tigers’ finals hope alive

The fourth and fifth-placed teams in Gisborne and District Cricket Association B grade are separated by just 0.62 of a point going into the final round.

Bacchus Marsh gained a slight upper hand over Lancefield in the battle for fourth spot and a finals berth when it defeated the Tigers on Saturday. Having made 185, Bacchus Marsh bowled the Tigers out for 143.

Jarryd McGill top-scored for the Tigers with 39, while captain-coach Luke Barker made 27.

In its second innings, Bacchus Marsh was 2-48 at stumps.

Meanwhile, East Sunbury’s win over ladder leader St Anthonys has kept the relegation and top-spot battles alive.

The Thunder, which is bottom of the ladder, made 185, on the back of a century to Shannon McDorman, in reply to St Anthonys’ 120.

St Anthonys improved with 2-123 in its second dig.

The Thunder is 1.48 points behind Macedon going into the final round.

At the other end of the table, the winner of the Rupertswood and St Anthonys game starting this weekend will finish top of the ladder.

Rupertswood kept the pressure on St Anthonys with a convincing win against Ashfield on Saturday.

Having made 235 on day one, Rupertswood dismissed Ashfield for 164.

The bowlers shared the wickets around, with Aaron Forward, John Lane and Brandon Webber taking two each.

In the other match, Wallan sealed third spot with victory over Macedon.

Macedon was bowled out for 96, Wallan making 145 in reply. Macedon finished its second innings on 3-102.
