Game on between St Anthonys and Bacchus Marsh

St Anthonys and Bacchus Marsh cricket clubs will do battle this Sunday for the Nicholas Proffitt Shield.

The shield, which is being played for the second time, honours former Saints player Proffitt, who died in a motorcycle accident at just 28-years-old.

As well as honouring the memory for Proffitt, the day will be used to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

St Anthonys’ Ron Walker said Proffitt was passionate about raising money for the foundation, so the club was enthusiastic about continuing his work.

“He was a ripper bloke,” he said. “He did a lot of fundraising for the leukaemia foundation.”

At the game, several people will be involved in shaving or colouring their hair for the World’s Greatest Shave.

The Saints and Bulls will play a 40-over match on Sunday at Arnolds Creek Reserve. To donate: ow.ly/Pt8630i2u9A
