The Rams endured horror seasons in 2013 and 2014 and were anchored to the bottom of the ladders in almost all the senior women’s divisions.
A fresh approach from new A-grade coach Tara Crisp has yielded fantastic rewards.
The Rams have claimed two A-grade wins this season and are 10th on the ladder.
“Every week is a big improvement from the week before,” Crisp said. “We are pretty rapt across the board.
“The girls are getting used to playing with each other and having commitment – that is something that really helps.
“As coaches, we are trying to show them how to use their skill to their advantage … it is great we are succeeding with that.”
Rockbank’s most recent win came in round 14 against Woodend Hesket.
Having lost to Woodend Hesket by five goals earlier in the season, the Rams rebounded with a 14-goal win.
Crisp is full of praise for young shooter Jamie Sobotnicki, who she said had been outstanding throughout the season.
“Jamie is only 18 and she is playing up in
A grade – she has really been inspiring us from the start,” Crisp said.
“She is dominating around the ring but her defence is what is helping us win games for sure.”
With only three rounds left in the RDNL season, Rockbank is by no means slowing down in the race to the finish line.
Despite finals being out of the question, the Rams are hoping to add to their wins tally with matches coming up against Lancefield, Sunbury and Broadford.
“If we could get one or possibly two more wins that would be fantastic,” Crisp said.
“We have a couple of chances where we could push to get another win but obviously it is going to be hard work.
“As long as the girls continue to improve every week then they are doing their job.
“That is the main thing I am looking at.”
