The Western Rams have announced two key pieces of the puzzle on field for next year’s Riddell District Football League season.

Having announced Leigh Sporle as coach last week, the Rams have announced the signings of Junior Shandley and Fitzroy Greenwool.

Shandley joins the club from Western Australia after last playing in Melbourne in 2021.

Shandley, who had a serious knee injury this year, has played for Claremont in the West Australian Football League and played for the Sunbury Kangaroos in the EDFL in 2021.

Greenwool joins the club after spending time on Sandringham’s Victorian Football League list in 2022 and playing with the Sunbury Kangaroos in the Essendon District Football League.

Greenwool has previously played for the Gold Coast development squad and is described as an ‘excitement machine’.

Both players played under Sporle at the Kangaroos.

Sporle returns to the Rams this season for his third stint as coach, having coached in 2013 and co-coach with Leigh McInerney in 2017.

Sporle replaces Marty Weaver as coach. Weaver was in charge the last three seasons, which were heavily impacted by COVID-19.

The Rams failed to win a game in 2022.
