Diggers Rest is looking for double Riddell District Netball League premiership glory on Sunday.
The Burras’ B-grade and C-grade sides will both face Rupertswood in the final games of the year.
Sarah Carroll, who coaches both the B-grade and C-grade sides, said it was really exciting around the club.
The club is looking for its first netball premiership since 2008, when the B-grade side defeated the Sunbury Kangaroos.
The last time the Burras had teams in the grand final was 2009, when both the B-grade and C-grade sides fell short.
“As a club we’ve worked really hard to develop our group of players and build a culture of success, so it’s great to see that the hard work from all involved is paying off.
“Amy Schwegler, Amy Carroll and I have worked hard to build a culture of belief in the girls.
“Personally, I’m incredibly proud of all of the players.”
The B-grade side was the first Burras team through to the grand final when they upset Rupertswood in the second semi final last weekend.
It was the first time a Diggers Rest side had beaten Rupertswood in any grade of netball.
“Although B-grade had an incredibly strong list, we had a slow start to the season,” Carroll said.
“The girls really knuckled down and have worked tirelessly to come together as a team and we’re really peaking at the right time of the season.
“We knew we could do and it’s a real confidence booster.”
The Burras C-grade side had to do it the hard way, winning through after defeating Melton Centrals, 24-18, in a preliminary final on Saturday.
Carroll said this side had been determined to have success from the start of the year.
“C grade have been extremely focused from the get go,” she said.
“We picked up a handful of new players at the beginning of the season and combined with the experience of existing players they have been crucial to our success.”
Carroll said despite the win against the Sharks in B-grade two weeks ago, they would still go in as underdogs in both grand finals.
The Sharks B-grade side is looking for a fourth straight premiership and the C-grade team are ooking to go back-to-back.
“I can’t divulge all of our secrets but I will say that both grades are extremely versatile, we have a few aces up our sleeve we haven’t shown yet,” Carroll said.
“We’re looking forward to representing the club on Sunday in what will be two great games of netball.”
