Diggers Rest hit their stride

Shelby Strong was the best of the goalers for Diggers Rest Picture Shawn Smits.

Diggers Rest returned to the winners’ list in Riddell District Netball League.

After falling short against one of the competition pacesetters the week before the interleague bye, the Burras were keen to redeem themselves against Rockbank.

Both sides struggled early, with only 10 goals scored in the first quarter.

The Burras found momentum after the first quarter, opening up a 10-goal lead at half-time. They continue to dominate, outscoring the Rams 32-8 in the second half.

Shelby Strong scored 25 goals for the Burras, while playing coach Amy Carroll scored 22 goals in three quarters.

The Burras sit fourth on the ladder, equal with third-placed Lancefield.

Melton Centrals had a good win against Sunbury Kangaroos. The Centrals won every quarter for a final score of 66-29.

Rita White-Kay scored 35 goals from 45 attempts, while Rebecca Morabito scored 29 goals.

Centre Jade Fisher was best on court.

The win keeps the Centrals in touch with the top sides.
