Darley made a big statement against Melton South in its Ballarat Football League clash on Saturday.

Undefeated, and having already knocked off reigning premiers Bacchus Marsh, the Devils took things to the next level against the Panthers.

With former Carlton teammates Heath Scotland and Brendan Fevola going head-to-head on the field and in the coaches box, it was the midfielder who came out on top.

The Devils kicked the first six goals of the game and with a lead of 40-1 at quarter-time looked on track for a good day.

No one could have expected the second quarter, with the Devils kicking 12 goals to the Panthers two, to lead by a massive 100 points at the main break. The lead was extended to 125 points at the last change as the Devils stamped home the advantage.

The Panthers won the final quarter once the heat had gone out of the game, but it was a massively disappointing day for them.

The Devils won 27.14 (176)-7.12 (54).

The Graham brothers put on a show in front of goal; Chris kicking five goals and Brian kicking four.

Five other players kicked multiple goals.

Jackson Carrick was named best on ground, and Tom Evans and Abraham Cameron also had good games.

For the Panthers it was hard to find a winner. Mark Lynch was named their best on a dark day.

Fevola kicked two goals. The loss is the Panthers’ second in a row after losing to Bacchus Marsh last week.

Bacchus Marsh continues to build with a strong win against Melton. The Cobras started the better of the two sides and never let the Bloods back into the game.

The Cobras won the first three quarters to lead by 62 points at the last break. The Bloods outscored the Cobras in the final quarter but it was little consolation and the Cobras won 14.15 (99)-6.12 (48).

Hamish Coulton kicked four goals for the Cobras, and in a pleasing sign they won easily with star forward Jarrah Maksymow kicking just one goal.

Jackson Bolton was best on ground, while Tyson Shea and Scott Sherlock were just as busy.

For the Bloods, Brock McGregor kicked two goals in his first game for the season.

Ryan Walker was the Bloods’ best along with Ben Archard and Lachlan Walker.

Melton has just one win from its first six games and sits ninth. They have a bye this week.

In other results, Ballarat defeated Sebastopol, Lake Wendouree was too good for Sunbury Lions and East Point defeated North Ballarat City.

In the A-grade netball, Melton South got the win against Darley, while Bacchus Marsh was too strong for Melton.
