Darley is into the Ballarat Football League grand final after an upset win over Redan on Saturday.
The Devils were outstanding at Eastern Oval, finding the right balance between attack and defence to topple the minor premier 15.7 (97) – 11.13 (79).
Darley will now enjoy a week off while it waits to find out whether it plays Redan or North Ballarat City in the biggest game of the season at Eastern Oval on September 19.
After giving up a five-point lead at quarter- time, Darley produced some of its best football of the year during a dominant second-quarter blitz against Redan. The Devils slammed on six goals to Redan’s three to take a 20-point lead to the main break. And despite a comeback effort from the Lions, Darley led by one point at three-quarter-time then enjoyed a seven-goal final term to seal the win.
Andrew Challis was outstanding for Darley and was named his side’s best player.
Also impressive were Shane Page and Anthony Chiu, while Ryan Closter and Rhys Ellis combined for seven goals.
Callum Currie booted three goals for Redan.
Redan and North Ballarat City last met in the first week of the finals when Redan won by 66 points.
