Darley continued its charge towards the Ballarat Football League finals with a 79-point thrashing of Melton South on Saturday.
After a slow first quarter, the Devils found form with five goals in the second term to take a 35-point lead to the main break.
But that was only the Darley machine warming up.
The Devils found their best in the final term, kicking a stunning 10 goals to secure the 23.20 (158) – 11.13 (79) win.
It was the Dane Grenfell show inside the Darley 50 metre arc, with the forward booting seven goals.
He was well supported by five goals from Jake Edwards, while Nathan Lyons finished with three.
Around the ground, Andrew Challis and Rhys Ellis both worked hard and won a number of key contests for the Devils.
Saturday’s win maintains Darley’s third place on the BFL ladder, with the Devils looking set for a home final.
While the club is unlikely to catch top-of-the-table Redan or second-placed North Ballarat City, Darley holds a healthy percentage gap over Lake Wendouree in fourth.
The Devils look certain to continue their winning streak when they take on the bottom -of-the-table Sebastopol this week.
But the cellar-dwellers proved they’re not to be underestimated by securing their first win since 2012 by beating Melton last week.
After trailing by 19 points at three-quarter time, Sebastopol stormed home with four goals to none in the fourth term to secure the 13.5 (83) – 12.7 (79) win.
It capped off a strange week for Melton, with head coach Brad Murphy having a change of heart on his decision to leave the club.
Murphy said last month that the 2015 season would be his final one in charge of the Bloods.
But he confirmed during the week that he would return to the club in 2016 as head coach.
Melton has had a disappointing BFL season, sitting eighth on the ladder with just three wins.
The Bloods will try to bounce back this weekend when they meet 10th-placed Ballarat.
In other weekend results, North Ballarat City defeated Sunbury, East Point smashed Bacchus Marsh and Lake Wendouree was far too good for Ballarat.
