Former AFL player Mitch Banner is the latest signing announced by Melton South.

Banner, who had 19 games across four seasons with Port Adelaide, played his junior football with the Ballarat Football League club before being drafted at the end of 2008.

Since been delisted at the end of 2012, he played in Perth, and then with Williamstown in the VFL, where he was part of their premiership side in 2015.

Last season, he played for fellow BFL side Darley, where he played 17 games, kicking 38 goals. The Devils were knocked out in the opening round of the finals.

Banner’s signing is the latest under new coaches Brendan Fevola and Sean Triplett. The duo are hoping to turn Melton South from a side that didn’t win a game this season, to one of the powerhouses of the competition.

Banner is one of several past players returning to the Panthers.

Matt Notman, who has been playing with Melton, returns after four years, and will be a playing assistant coach.

Former Panthers’ captain and best and fairest winner Ben Peters returns to the club after a stint with Riddell in the Riddell District Football League.

Other signings are two-time Essendon District Football League best and fairest winner Mark Lynch, former Western Region Football League competition medal winner Shannon Broadbent, and brothers Adam and Mozzie Houli.
