The Ballarat Football League has named its final squad for this weekend’s WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships.
The squad will take on the Goulburn Valley Football League on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as part of the AFL’s Powercor Country Festival.
The interleague game will be played before the Essendon and Geelong AFL match.
The squad of 23 includes players from nine of the 11 BFL teams, with Melton South and Ballarat the two teams without representatives.
Reigning premiers Darley has the most players in the final squad, with four.
Steven Kennedy appears to be over his injury concerns having been named in the squad, along with Devils teammates Shane Page, Dylan Reid and Brian Graham.
Four clubs have three players named in the 23 including Bacchus Marsh and the Sunbury Lions.
Cobras skipper Scott Sherlock leads the players from Bacchus Marsh, with off season recruits Ben Speight and Aaron Willitts named after having an immediate impact.
Two of the Sunbury Lions young guns have been named, in Mitch Conn and Lachlan Bramble.
Grant Valles, who has been big under pressure for the Lions, has also made the final squad, having represented the league before.
Melton duo Ben Archard and Billy Crofts has also been named in the team.
BFL coach Shaun O’Loughlin said he was pleased with the final side.
“We’re thrilled with the level of support we have received this year from all players across the league and we think we’ve picked our strongest possible side which has been selected based on team balance, current form and fitness.”
