Bacchus Marsh bullish about their chances

Bacchus Marsh made its intentions clear on Saturday in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s top two grades.

Sitting fifth in both the McIntyre Cup and B-grade competitions, the Bulls need to win in both grades and hope other results go their way if they’re to play finals.

In McIntyre Cup, the Bulls have already claimed first innings points against Rupertswood and are hunting an outright win. Madushanka Ekanayaka tore through Rupertwood’s batting, taking 8-36 as Rupo succumbed for just 61.

The Bulls had no such trouble and were 2-213 at stumps with Peter Lalor unbeaten on 107.

In B-grade, the Bulls are on track for first innings points against bottom side Ashfield.

The Bulls smacked the ball around the park at more than a run a ball on the way to 5-308 from just 46 overs.

Samuel Rousch top-scored with 82 not out. With 20 overs to bowl at Ashfield, the Bulls ran through the top order to have its opponent 5-60 at stumps.

In McIntyre Cup, fourth-placed Diggers Rest Bulla will be hoping 193 is enough for victory against Romsey.

Third-placed Sunbury has its work cut out to chase down Gisborne’s 7-306, while Riddell posted 7-302 against Woodend.

In B-grade, St Anthonys needs 222 against Macedon. Robert Strugnell was the best of the bowlers, taking 3-55.
