Caroline Springs continued with its winning ways against Hoppers Crossing in the Western Region Football League division 1. It was a slow start for the Lakers, before they slowly started to build. A six goal to one final quarter sealed the 17.5 (107)-8.11 (59) win. Steven Kyriazis kicked four goals in the win.

Nike F.C Cup

Caroline Springs George Cross’ dream run in the knockout Nike F.C Cup came to an end on Wednesday night. The only state league team left in the last eight, the Georgies faced National Premier League Women’s powerhouse South Melbourne for a spot in the semi finals. The score would be 9-0 at half time and 15-0 at the final whistle, despite the brave efforts for the Georgies. Calder United, which has won the previous four titles, won through to the semi finals the week before with a 5-0 win.

RDFL

There were few surprises in the Riddell District Football League on Saturday. The higher placed team took the win in all four games. Diggers Rest was too strong for the Western Rams, winning 22.17 (149)-3.3 (21), while Wallan beat Macedon, 11.11 (77)-5.7 (37). Romsey had a solid win against Lancefield, 12.14 (86)-5.3 (33) and Riddell accounted for Melton Centrals, 15.11 (101)-3.5 (23). There is a competition wide bye this weekend.
