Reigning Riddell District Netball League premiers Diggers Rest are on the hunt for an A-grade coach. Pam Strong stood down at the end of last season, having guided the club to A and B-grade premierships. Anyone interested can contact netball coordinator Teagan Dowsett on 0403 348 917. The Burras’ netball pre-season starts on January 30.

YPL

The Central Highlanders under-15 girls representative side finished sixth in their pool in the Youth Premier League. Played last week, the competition had the best players from the state taking to the field, representing their local regions. The Highlanders won one of their five games. Emma Niessen was the side’s best batter, averaging 27, while Shameka Grero finished with eight wickets, fifth most in the competition. It comes after the Highlanders under-16 male side won the title back in December.

Bowls

It was a tough day for Bacchus Marsh in the Bowls Victoria weekend pennant, division 1, section 4. Facing a strong Flemington Kensington side, Bacchus Marsh lost 81 (16)-60 (2). Phil Minniti was the winning skip for Bacchus Marsh, with his rink winning 21-13. Bacchus Marsh sits seventh after 11 rounds. In division 2, section 2, Melton beat Brunswick, 83 (16)-77 (2). Melton remains on top, with a 20 point gap to second-placed Aberfeldie CBC.

Ballarat CA

Darley made light work of Ballarat-Redan in the Ballarat Cricket Association on Saturday. Ballarat-Redan was bowled out for just 89 with Danza Hyatt taking 5-28 for the Lions. The Lions got the run chase down easily, finishing 1-93 with Dilan Chandima finishing 60 not out. After 10 rounds, the Lions sit on top of the ladder, 10 points clear of Wendouree. The Lions face Mt Clear this Saturday.
