Sydenham Hillside had a big win against the Doutta Stars in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association division 1. The Storm made 7-192 from its overs before bowling the Stars out for 140. After seven rounds, the Storm sits six points clear on top of the table. In division 3, Caroline Springs beat Glenroy in a thriller. The Falcons made 137 before bowling Glenroy out for 133. In division 5, Melton Centrals and Melton South Royals both had wins, while Burnside Springs lost.

NAB League

Players from the Western Jets are among those who took part in a training camp in preparation for the 2023 AFL under-18 national championships. The camp, which was held at the Hangar in Tullamarine featured a host of talented 16 and 17-year-old boys and girls who feature as part of the Victoria Metro regions that compete in the NAB League. The girls squad participated in the training camp across Friday and Saturday, while a camp for the boys squad was run on Saturday and Sunday. Six players in the 2023 NAB AFLW Academy have been named in the girls’ squad, including the Jets’ duo Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner and Kiera Whiley. The Jets’ Logan Morris, who plays with Werribee Districts, and Tamara Henry, who is from Darley, also took part in the camps.

Bowls

Bacchus Marsh had a big win against St Kilda in the Bowls Victorian weekend pennant division 1, section 4. Two of Bacchus Marsh’s rinks were on fire with big wins to help the side to a 100 (16)-67 (2) win. The win has Bacchus Marsh second on the ladder. In division 2, section 2, Melton’s top side beat Moonee Ponds, 84 (17)-61 (1). Melton remains on top, with only one loss after eight rounds.

A-League

It was an unhappy return to the pitch for Western United in the A-League men’s competition. Facing bottom side Perth Glory, United lost 2-1 to slip to last on the table.
