Aintree, Kyneton game evenly poised

Aintree and Kyneton’s match is evenly poised in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association’s Johnstone Shield.

With both teams sitting in the top four, the two-day match would give more of an indication of where both teams sit this season.

Kyneton won the toss and elected to send Aintree in.

After losing two early wickets, Aintree settled with all their middle order getting starts.

Aintree was bowled out for 223 in the 56th over.

Kapilmeet Singh Sandhu top scored with 53.

Kyneton had to face seven overs at the end of the day. It lost a wicket without scoring and will resume at 1-18.

A club record seventh wicket partnership has Eynesbury on top in its match against Romsey.

The Eagles were at 6-135 and looking at a score below 200 before Heath Pritchard and Cameron Price came together.

The two put on 142 to help push the Eagles total to 7-282. Pritchard finished 78 at nearly a run a ball, Price made 70.

In other matches in the Johnstone Shield, Kilmore made 4-322 against Gisborne, Bacchus Marsh is 1-29 in reply to Macedon’s 146 and Riddell is 0-5 in reply to Sunbury United’s 213.

In the McIntyre Cup, there were plenty of runs on offer as players enjoyed warm conditions for the first time this season.

Gisborne, made 9-273 against Wallan.

Matthew Barake top scored 52 not out as seven batters reached at least 20.

Romsey skipper Ben Way was at his best as he guided Romsey to 287 against Diggers Rest Bulla.

Way made 124 off 203 balls hitting 10 fours and two sixes.

Romsey was bowled out with three balls remaining. Indika Massalage took four wickets for the Burras.

Woodend made 234 against Bacchus Marsh, bowled out in the 67th over. Marcus Stewart top scored with 76 at the top of the order.

Ryan Brown took five wickets for the Bulls. The Bulls will resume at 0-11.

Sunbury Kangaroos are hoping to get their first win of the season against East Sunbury.

The Kangaroos put on 226 on day one with Mace Green top scoring with 61.

Sunbury United is in the box seat against Rupertswood after a couple of late wickets. The Bees made 239, with Rupo 2-4 in reply.

In the Jensen Shield. St Anthonys needs a miracle against Hanging Rock.

The Saints were bowled out for 114 with Marc Turner scoring 40, the only player to reach double figures.

Hanging Rock finished the day at 1-91 in reply.
