Melton got back on the Big V basketball men’s division 1 winners’ list with an eight-point victory against Altona on Saturday night.
The Thoroughbreds were impressive early, restricting Altona to just 11 points in the first term, which allowed Melton to open up an eight-point lead.
The margin grew during the next two quarters. The 81-73 win is Melton’s third of the season.
Blake Allison was a standout for the Thoroughbreds, scoring a team-high 18 points, well supported by Ivan Harris, who finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Melton takes on Shepparton this weekend.
