GDCA: Bacchus Marsh eyes outright to snatch finals spot

Bacchus Marsh needs an outright win against Sunbury United this week to have any chance of qualifying for the Gisborne District Cricket Association finals.

The Bulls are sixth on the ladder and six points behind fourth-placed Gisborne.

Sunbury United is third, 10 points ahead of Bacchus Marsh.

If the Bulls miss out on a place in the finals, a few top-four teams could breathe a sigh of relief as the Marsh proved at the weekend its best cricket is good enough to match it with anyone by knocking off top-of-the-ladder Riddell.

After bowling out Riddell for 92, the Marsh made 2-108 then sent Riddell (9-195) in again.

GDCA B-grade

Finals have come a week early for East Sunbury and Diggers Rest Bulla. Now occupying second and third on the ladder respectively, the pair will meet in the season’s final round this week.

The winner of that match will secure a home final. The loser could drop to as low as fourth if current fourth-placed team

St Anthonys defeats sixth-placed Ashfield. Bacchus Marsh will finish the B-grade season in seventh spot.
