RDNL GRAND FINAL PREVIEW: Melton Centrals v Riddell

Riddell and the Melton Centrals are starting to become familiar foes in the Riddell District Netball League.

After playing each other twice in the regular season, they fronted again two weeks ago in the semi-final.

They will again face off in the grand final on Sunday.

The Bombers are the clear favourites, having won the three previous clashes and losing only one match for the season.

In each of the matches against Centrals, the Bombers have dominated on the scoreboard for parts of the game to ease their way to wins.

The grand final spot for the Bombers is three years in the making, after they were hit by injuries in last year’s finals series.

With more depth, the Bombers have been able to cover injuries, notably yo Ryan medalist Lauren Close.

For the experienced Centrals line up, a spot in the final round of the season isn’t anything new.

They finished runners-up to Romsey last season and their front end of the court is one of the most experienced in the league.

Coach Randy Pereira said after his side’s win on the weekend, that the key to his side getting a victory was playing well for the whole match, not just 30 minutes of it.

TIP

It’s too hard to go against Riddell here. The Bombers have seemed to go up another level after losing to Rupertswood in round 15. The majority of the Bombers line-up has been together for three years and they seem to firing at the right time of the season. The key for the Centrals is their shooting duo of Renee Hulls and Rebecca Morabito. If they both get on fire, the Centrals will be hard to stop. The grand final experience of this seasoned team could also prove important.

Riddell by 5 goals.
