Melton Phoenix maintained its place in the top four of Football Federation of Victoria’s State League 4 with a 1-0 win against Laverton Park on Saturday.
The home side put in a good showing against the might of the Phoenix, despite being on the bottom of the table.
Melton’s only goal came from the dangerous Jason Moody in the second half.
But the win was a vital step forward for the club, which has struggled with its away form all season.
Melton will take on second-placed Strathmore in a blockbuster clash this week.
In other SL4 results, Hoppers Crossing lost its first game of the season, 2-1 to Maribyrnong Greens.
The Reds still hold a huge lead over the competition and sit 11 points clear on top of the table.
