RDFL: Smailes fires but Diggers Rest fall to Romsey

A five-goal haul from Luke Smailes wasn’t enough to give Diggers Rest an upset win against Romsey in the RDFL on Saturday.

Smailes was brilliant up forward, but not enough other Burras players were able to hit the scoreboard against one of the competition’s best teams.

The 13.12 (90) to 10.10 (70) win is Romsey’s 14th of the year with the club sitting on top of the RDFL ladder.

Despite the loss, Diggers Rest is still in prime position to play finals and is in fourth with a 9-4 record.
