Daily discipline pays off for Emily at national titles

Melton teenager Emily Kro can pack a punch – literally.

The 14-year-old has been chosen to represent Victoria at the Australian National Karate Championships to be held in Perth next month, after successful competitions in the US and Greece.

“I love competing. Although it requires a lot of discipline I enjoy rising to the challenge,” Emily says.

The year 9 student has practised karate from the age of six.

She trains daily with Sensei Wayne Noble at Shindo Karate Academy in Bacchus Marsh and every Saturday at Victoria University Footscray campus.

“I love the friendships I’ve made and I give my all to every training session.”

Emily, who practises the kata sparring discipline, received a Rising Star Award from Karate Victoria in May.

She will also represent Australia at the 16th annual Oceania Karate Championships in Suva, Fiji in September.
